To be honest with you, when I started professional blogging, I was skeptical about the importance of Feeds for blogging. I had the feeling that they take away visitors from my blogs. I also thought that since it decreases my visitors, it decreases my income too. So, I used to put this tool in my blogs but in very important position so that the number does not increase at all. Still, I saw that some people somehow manages to subscribe them (you know that subscription is free).
Well, now, I have exactly the opposite idea. In fact, two of my blogs has over 1,300 Subscribers: Sports37.com and Techtainment. On the other hand, my laptop blog: http://laptopcom.blogspot.com/ has 900 subscribers and SouthAsiaBlog has nearly 700. So, you see that these 4 blogs have together, 4300 Feedburner readers. And in these 4 blogs so far, I have got over 3 million page views total until now.
Naturally, I do not have the same idea like past. Instead, I feel that Feedburner is a great blessing. It gives the readers the option to read our entries from their desktops or email boxes. It brings two advantages. First of all, these visitors would not come to visit my blog anyway. This way, they get in touch with my writing. Secondly, some of them are bloggers in the same field who keep an eye on my blogs and this way, they link to the entries from my blogs that they like. The final benefit is that when you have more than 500 or 1000 Feedburner Followers then it gives you some extra prestige as a blogger. Of course, if you take note of Techcrunch follower base of 3 million then it is nothing but there are not many like them. Most bloggers are happy with 1000.
So, in the end, I hope that you are convinced about the importance of Feedburner in blogging.
