Many people think that blogging is a fun job. You just type something and Google will send you some traffic, there are advertisements and at the end of the month you will earn money. Yes, some bloggers earn insane amount of money but their number is few. Anyway, for all the professional bloggers, it is a job full of stress and pressure. The stress originates from different sources.
The first and foremost pressure that I feel on a day to day basis is the matter that I have a number of blogs. In fact, we are 5 bloggers and there are 14 blogs. It is not officially a blog network but we are some sort of a network. I am the leader and I have to look after the whole network and on all the bloggers. I have to look after the Sitemeters and check on a daily basis how well we are doing every day, every week and every month. Believe me this simple thing alone is full of mental pressure. I have to track the activities and performances of the competitions on a regular basis.
A big worry for me is to check the Advertisements accounts. The recession has put more pressure on my mind. I have to check the activities of other 4 bloggers. Fortunately, all of them are obedient and there is no problem in managing them. This is perhaps the best part as managing a network can be a big headache. Motivating people is always a very difficult thing. Thanks God that the other 4 bloggers are responsible persons and they do not need any motivational efforts from my part.
So, you can easily understand that my daily life is full of stress. Well, I guess that most professional bloggers have the same condition like me or even worse. Their pressures may originate from different reasons but at the end of the day, it is a challenging job or business. I have noticed that as a result of this pressure, my main work of writing content for my blogs often suffer. I am basically a writer for all my life but now, I am more of a manager or entrepreneur than a writer. It is not that I do not enjoy the challenge- I really do enjoy. However, I know that my first and primary work must be creating content on a daily basis. This is the thing I can do well, I enjoy most and a blog needs it more than everything else.
In my team, I am the oldest and perhaps the brightest and best writer. So, when I am writing less means that the network is getting less quality content. The pressure and stress have eaten my ability to write on a daily basis. When I started professional blogging in 2006, I used to write good entries and I enjoyed it a lot when they got picked up by social bookmarks. In fact, I got an award by Know More Media blog network as the best blogger of July 2006. So, I need to go back to the work of writing good entries each and every day. I could naturally attract links from social bookmarking sites and other blogs and websites. This was my strong side. I want to go back to it again right away- if possible from tomorrow.
Well, the solution is perhaps very simple- just focus on one entry at a time. When I am writing an entry for a blog, I must forget everything else and focus on it only. I must not think whether the network is getting good traffic today, what may happen in next Google Page Rank or Back Link update, will the entry that I am writing become a successful one by attracting link from other blogs or social bookmarks etc etc. Really I must not think of these things and just focus on writing the entry I am writing at the moment. I must not do anything that is not related to that entry until I finish it.
This sounds to be a very simple lesson but from my own experience, I know that it is very difficult to follow. I have got this useful tip from Dale Carnegie. He has advised people a lot about not to worry but focus on working to improve in career and life. According to him, this is the best method to become successful in career and happy in life. After suffering from a lot of stress in the last 3 years, I agree with Dale Carnegie. It is indeed the best method.
Fortunately, I could follow this method while writing this entry and it became nearly 800 words long. I pray deeply that from now, I can follow this method.
If you are suffering from the same problem like me then please take a few minutes and tell yourself the same thing that I am now telling myself. Just write one entry at a time and do not think of anything else during that time.
