Yesterday, I discussed about buying a domain or getting a free subdomian from Blogspot. After you decide on a domain, the main thing that comes to your mind is hosting. Well, I feel that I have done much of the discussion about hosting there. Still, I hope that I can add some new information for you.
First of all, I want to talk about free hosting. Google offers free hosting for custom domains. That means, you have to register your domain through Google or any other company and then Google will provide you free Blogger hosting. You do not have to pay any money for the hosting. Of all the free hosting that you can find in the world, this is the best. Google gives you the space and bandwidth for absolute free of cost. There is another great advantage, you hardly need to spend time for the design and managing the blog. You do no need technical knowledge either. All you need to do is to produce content and earn money.
However, there are is one problem- Google does not allow you to customize that much. Most bloggers would object about the limitations of customizations of design and layout. This is a big problem.
Now, I am talking about paid hosting. You should be careful about your decision or else it may cause you a lot of harm. Just be sure to read all the details before you decide to buy a plan from any company. There are mainly 3 kind of hosting services that most companies offer: Shared, Virtual Private Network Server and Dedicated Server. You can know more about them from Wikipedia’s entry:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_hosting_service
As far as expense is concerned- shared hosting is much cheaper (starting from as low as $5 per month or even less). VPN server is more expensive than dedicated servers but cheaper than dedicated servers. When you enter to the world of dedicated servers then you have to start somewhere around 100$ per month.
When you consider buying a hosting plan for your blog- you should think of several things first. First of all, you have to think of your budget and technical know-how. How much money per month can you afford or are you willing to spend for this matter? Second thing is that do you have any knowledge about managing a hosting space or do you need to hire someone for it? How many visitors are you expecting to get for your blog? If you are expecting that maximum 1-2 thousand visitors would come in your blog each day then shared hosting is ebst and is very cheap. However, if you are thinking of a blog that would bring thousands of visitors every hour then you have to go for dedicated hosting.
I hope that this information helps.
One other thing id like to point out is that if you know where your visitors are coming from i.e. uk then try and get a host thats located their servers in the uk, although it may be a little more expensive your page load times will be faster, I previously hosted sites in the states and when ive traced the route there where around 20+ points before it reached the destination.
thanks for the info tho.
