I hate to say that the year 2009 has been a very bad year for me so far. Not only for me but also for all the 5 members in our team, it has been nothing short of a disastrous year. Economic recession was at its best for most of the time. We suffered from bad health. I have to look after the business and building a web based business is always a big challenge in any third world country. So, I have to suffer most of the pressure. I am not getting any younger and it is sometimes really painful and full of stress.
We saw traffic increasing but revenue from Adsense and Chitika simply crashing on. EPCM was at its all time low since I started earning money with Adsense nearly 4 years ago. We tried Infolinks and Adbrite and both of them really were terrible. Now, the worst of the recession is over and Google made good profit in the third quarter. So, we are hoping that things will be better for us as far as earning money through Adsense is concerned. We are disappointed with Chitika for various reasons. However, I am still wiling to give it another shot after the recession is over.
Health is another major concern. My wife became very sick in June and July. Well, it is not only for blogging but she is a full time blogger like me. Then, I became very sick and our most prolific blogger Biplob Kishore Deb is out of action from illness. It will be wrong to say that we all became sick because of blogging. However, I can easily state that blogging is full of challenge. When a buzz event happens then we all have to work many extra hours and sometimes whole night. For example, this week, Microsoft is releasing Windows 7 OS. So, we have to give some extra effort for it in the next 7 days. Most probably, we cannot do it because Sahar Tadayyon (my wife) and Biplob Kishore Deb are sick and out of action. Even I am 50% sick and 50% healthy.
Sometimes, I wish that we can make a gradual transition to writing e-books from blogging because there is less stress in it. E-book is also a form of writing too. However, I enjoy the challenge in blogging. It suits me a lot. I love to see several thousand people coming to read our entries. I enjoy to see hundreds of people coming to our blog to get sports coverage on big matches. Just the other day, we had nearly 50,000 page views for a football match between Argentina and Uruguay. Some people thanked us for giving live updates and text commentary of the match.
In fact, almost every week, some people thank us for some entries that they find useful. It may be literature, business, technology or sports. This matter helps me a lot to coup up the pressure of blogging. When I think that someone in America, Europe or Asia is looking for something and find it in our blog and they get happy with it then it gives me immense pleasure. I always wanted to do that in my life. The best part in blogging is that you can earn a living from this- by helping people with giving information and entertainment. Someone wants to buy a laptop and then they visit our blog and can find information. The best part of Adsense is that it does not matter whether we criticize a company or a sports team or an actor or a movie. Our earning is not related to our ideas and opinions. We can write freely thanks to Adsense.
