I’ve had similar experiences, not a personal disaster, but something that required a few days off blogging and therefore saw my traffic decline. It was very hard to build by average back up, but I just did what I usually did and visitors came back.

The only thing I might’ve done differently was put more effort into marketing: using Twitter, Facebook and commenting on other peoples’ blogs.

Sorry to hear about your wife. It reminds me of myself in 2006. I became ill with a near fatal disease overseas and my husband had to come to the hopital daily for 2 weeks as well. I didn’t know if I would ever walk again and I was in so much pain. He was exhausted, coupled with the fact that we were not in our home country. Glad thngs are normalizing for you. All the best!
