This entry is a part of Absolute Write Blog Chain for December 2009. In this blog chain, all the participants are talking about their life and work in 2009. Beawhiz was before me and had more or less a good year.
For me, 2009 was eventful. It was full of disasters and at the same time full of optimism. The year started with the decrease in revenue from my blogs due to the global economic recession. Only in November (last month), I felt that the worst of recession is really over for me and I am satisfied with the revenue. Thus, the New Year is beginning with a sense of optimism as far as earning money is concerned. If another recession does not come next year, I should be earning a decent amount of money, hopefully.
A very big disaster happened in June when I learnt the true nature of Shared Hosting. Two of my blogs reached traffic level of almost 100,000 page views per month and that time I learnt that shared hosting cannot support huge traffic spike (of visitors) at a short time. So, I had to dismantle the two blogs as there was no smooth way to transfer a blog from WordPress to Blogger. On the other hand, I could not afford dedicated hosting (server). It gave me a lot of pain that time. One of the blogs has got back to the previous level of traffic but the other did not.
In June, I had to start teeth treatment. Because I neglected my teeth for a long time (I was always afraid of dentists), I had to suffer a lot of pain this time. In one month, the dentist did root canal on 7 of my teeth. Things became literary dangerous for me when my wife became very sick during my teeth treatment and I had to leave everything and be in clinic with her for 15 days continuously. Then, I had to go back to the dentist and my one tooth became infected. Thanks God that in the end, both of us survived and we are recovering now.
After the teeth treatment, it was time for me to gain weight and my weight increased 10 KG or 22 Pounds in just two months. I suffered from obesity and my BMI index reached to 32.8. Believe me, it is not fun. Heart beat increased, climbing stairs became difficult, going out was a nightmare and even blogging becomes almost impossible. At the age of 34, I felt like a man of 74.
Two months ago, I said to myself that if I die then I should die by not eating. My main problem was bad eating habit. I was fond of all the junk foods: meat, soft drinks, fast food, outside food and what not. I was spoilt in eating. If the food was some less spicy and oily (according to my taste), I could not or would not eat. In the last two months, I could lose 25 pounds of weight, came out of obesity and most of all, I could totally change my eating habit. I now eat mainly healthy food and in the last two months, I have read a lot about health and diet. I have literally stopped eating meat, sweet, outside food and I still cannot believe it.
Although 2009 was more or less a very bad year for me, I am ending it in a very happy note. Changing eating habit was always an impossible task for me and I could achieve it at last. It has given me a lot of confidence. To be honest, the thing that motivated me most for this change in eating habit was strong love for my wife. I wanted to live a healthy and long life with her.
